Good to know
- Cars and taxis stop where the pedestrian lanes begin: the last stretch to any riad's door is done on foot, luggage in hand. The reward is having Jemaa el-Fnaa and the souks a few minutes' walk away.
- Most quad operators include Marrakech pickup, but their vans stop where the taxis do — outside the medina's alleys. Agree on a precise, easy-to-find meeting point (a gate, a square) when you book, and allow a few minutes to walk out to it.
- The old town has its own soundtrack — scooters, vendors, calls to prayer. If quiet matters more to you than atmosphere, look at Gueliz or Hivernage, the modern districts outside the walls.
